The Pencil

As most people know a pencil is a tool used for writing. I chose to write about the pencil because it has helped many people. The first pencils were used by the the Ancient Egyptians and the Romans. It was made out of lead and used for writing on papyrus(the ancient type of paper). The word pencil comes from the latin word pencillus which means little tail. Then an Italian couple named Simonio and Lyndiana Bernacotti thought of wooden holders for their pencils. They made the modern day carpentry pencil by hollowing a piece of juniper wood. Their model was a tiny bit different but it was basicly the same pencils we use today. I think the pencil was important in history because it helped people write, draw and teach other people more easily.

I can tell you love hockey. Hockey is fun to watch, but I don't like the violence when players check each other.

In my hometown in Oregon, there was the WinterHawks team made up of players from Canada who finished their high school degree in the states. My friend taught some of the players so we always got free tickets to the games. That's when I started to enjoy hockey.

I really liked you idea to write about your invention! We use pencils every day and in your writing,(though its a small writing) you are describing about your invention very well!!
